The Graduated Life..

June 1st, 2009 at 12:56 pm

Yay for graduating from Georgia Tech! And in four years no less.. so here’s my graduated life so far:

Still around campus a lot cause I’m working in a lab in Skiles doing research with a professor. Also, I got albumni membership to the gym sooo who wants to go work out? I need a swimming partner again. There’s also rockclimbing! Apparently a lot more people want to rock climb so here’s the deal.. let me know if you want to go and I’ll give you heads up when we’re heading out to Wallcrawlers or something. We usually go on Friday nights which is college night so it’s $6 for the pass and another $7 if you need a harness and shoes. We were there for like 4 hours last time so be prepared.. it’s intense but lots of fun!

Beyond that.. I get to choose my hours of work =P life is pretty good for now. I’ll probably be looking for a full time position soon though. I guess I can’t bum my way through life. But if you’re still around Atlanta or whatever and want to hang out.. call me up!

MJQ this wednesday night!

Trip to Canada with my BCN ladies =) Can’t wait!

What the hell was his problem?

April 8th, 2009 at 7:54 pm

Today, I’m going about my regular day.. sitting at Einsteins with Lucas, Nathan and Rahul.. just chatting as we usually do for the hour before our next class. I’m facing out of Einsteins so that the bulk of people are behind me. Some guy behind me starts making a ton of noise behind me so, naturally, like any other human being, I turn around, GLANCE and look back forward not really thinking anything except “maybe he’s just getting crumbs off the chair” since he was banging the chair on the ground several times.

A second later, the guy walks towards me and asks “what are you looking?.. did I do something wrong?” At this point, I’m a little confused cause I didn’t really do anything except look behind me to see what was going on. But I reply politely, “no, I don’t think so.. I was just looking to see what was going on.”

Him: “Well, did you figure it out?”

Me: “No, not really..”

Him: “Well, I don’t have time to explain.”

Me: “I really didn’t ask you to.”

Him (shouting): “WELL, THEN DON’T LOOK!” *walks away*

Everyone at Einsteins at this point is looking around like.. seriously? What?.. And apparently this guy walks over to another table and slams one of those chairs down on the ground a couple of times as well. This I didn’t realize but Nathan told me that.

I was beyond confused at this point. But my guess is he’s having a really bad day. I really wanted to sneak a picture of this guy and post it up online so I could be like “THIS GUY IS A MAJOR ASS”

Project 12: March

March 28th, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Real quick post since I’ve got a ton to do this weekend. Just a project 12 update. This was another assignment for GT Photography Club. The theme was “Destruction”

What more is there to say?

The original concept included the UGA Bulldog being completely ripped in half with an innocent looking baby sitting next to it with Georgia Tech paraphernalia. Without access to a baby for an hour or so, I decided to use a Buzz stuffed doll. I couldn't find a mini football, otherwise, that would be thrown in as well.

And that is all.

It’s 1 in the morning Friday before Spring Break and I’ve got a test to study for.. that I really haven’t touched. This week has been super busy, but this time likely my fault than any of my classes or professors. I take on too much (which isn’t a secret) because I love to stay busy. Ok so I really shouldn’t have done some of that stuff like watching a movie or watching 24 or Burn Notice but hey, I lose some sleep and keep myself happy. Besides I think watching TV is as close as it gets to sleeping while you’re awake. I mean, you really don’t have to think or do anything. Just sit and watch. It’s resting right?

Whatever, I’m just procrastinating some more even though I really shouldn’t. So update on Project 12? Not yet. I’ve got a couple of choices already and I have a good idea of which one it will be but I’m only halfway through the month this time! There should also be some good pictures from the cruise that I will be going on Monday!!!

Until then… I’ll leave you here with some pics from the camping trip that I took for my pre-Spring Break trip to Tallulah Gorge and Helen.

Tallulah Gorge Waterfall from the top of the gorge.

Taken at the start of the fire while things were still crackling and popping.

Cool shot of the water fountain at Helen, GA.

There are also a couple of cool light drawing photos that we took but I they’re just on facebook for now. Next update, I’ll be sure to add those in because they were a lot of fun to do. Maybe we’ll get a chance to do it again sometime in the near future. It’s just hard to find a spot dark enough to have exposures that long.

Peace.

Project 12: February

February 26th, 2009 at 3:22 am

Project 12 update! And since I’m lazy and it’s already 2 in the morning, I’m going to put up the shot that I’m submitting for GT Photography Club’s theme assignment, motion. I happened to walk downstairs to the Center Street Activity Room and saw a bunch of people practicing for the Holi show. I decided to ask if they’d be cool if I took some pictures since the theme was motion and it fit quite well. While most of the pictures were blurry in the face (since I’m consciously going for motion of the dresses the girls were wearing), there were some pretty cool shots of the dresses. Here’s my favorite:

Capturing the motion of the colorful traditional Indian dresses during a dance sequence.

And.. that’s probably all for this month =)

Superbowl!

February 2nd, 2009 at 12:47 am

Today was a pretty sweet day.. though not so productive. Oh well. Woke up pretty early for a Sunday (9ish) and went to Java Jive for breakfast! Delicious. I had their Greek Omelet this time but it wasn’t quite as good as their special I had last time I was there — Smoked Salmon Scramble. Then came home and bummed a little bit. Then, there was, of course.. SUPERBOWL TIME!

I don’t care too much about the actual game. But good job Steelers! But it’s always fun to be in good company so we just ended up eating some homemade pizza, bratwursts, and playing some “board” games. But the commercials are usually pretty interesting and with Hulu, we can now all watch them over and over if we liked them =)

Here’s quite possibly, my favorite:

I also enjoyed Telefloras’ Talking Flowers.

But… this one is also pretty freaking awesome. TRANSFORMERS 2!!! I can’t wait cause Transformers was sweet to say the least.

That’s all!

Let’s try this again

January 30th, 2009 at 2:15 pm

Launching the blog was merely the beginning of actually getting the blog up and running. Minor detail about never actually updating it though. So here’s my new years resolution.. actually update! I usually have a lot to talk about, just not too much time (or other things I’d rather be doing/watching, since I am a TV & movies junkie), to write. So, to move along my resolution, I’ve decided to do a Project 12 in photography since I’ve already missed Project 365 as that should have started 30 days ago. For anyone who has no idea what I’m talking about, Project 12 means I will select one photo I’m particularlly proud of during each month and post it up on here. That way, I will ensure at least 12 posts this year! Hopefully, I will do better than that. But here’s my first Project 12 post.

On other news, Happy [belated] Chinese New Year! The CCC festival is tomorrow and it should be a lot of fun, like always. GT and Emory TASA will be there to help out with a booth of delicious food. Besides that, I guess there’s not too much going on during school at the moment. Plans are to graduate (hopefully with higher honors) in May and .. after that, I have no idea. Good plan huh?

More exciting plans, however, are Spring Break 2009 plans!! I’ve already booked a cruise with the roommates and Tom, and a bunch of other GT friends. I’m extremely excited about that. Oh, and that was booked while I was on another vacation! I went to Ohio during MLK holiday to visit my cousins and go snowboarding! Tons of fun, though quite painful the next day. I’ll have to get pictures from my brother since he brought his little digital camera and I brought my big one.. without recharging batteries.

Well, that will be all for now! Til next time =)

Blog Launch!

October 6th, 2008 at 8:05 am

So I’ve been wanting to start up a blog for a while now but just haven’t found the time, or maybe I was just lacking motivation. Either way, it’s taken me too long to do this, but I’ve finally sat myself down at 5 in the morning and set a blog up with a quick and simple design. I just got back from the Grace Hopper 2008 Conference in Keystone, CO and there was much talk of networking socially and professionally. This might have been just the right motivator for me to start the blog up. Nevertheless, here it is.

My goals here are simple, yet will probably take a lot of work on my part to keep up with since I do in fact go to Georgia Tech and have long since realized that 24 hours in a day is just not enough. I’m sure my fellow students would agree. But, my plan is to actually update this blog and keep it up to date with what’s going on in my life. Second, I’ll probably set goals here to remind myself of things I want to do, learn and so on. Lastly, I may try to show off some works that I’ve done recently, most likely just personal projects. Since I’ve got this nifty Canon 20D SLR, I might try to save some time and photo blog a few entries especially since I’m more of a visual person than a writer.

And to start that off, here’s a little piece of Keystone, CO that I brought back:

Georgia Tech Women@CC ladies doing what they do best!

That’s all for now. I hope you check back soon to see what I’ve been up to. Fall break is coming up soon (as in next week) and my plans are to go to Chicago so I’ll bring back some good pictures if my plans go through.
